Shark Steam Mop is one of the best available cleaning tools used to clean linoleum, vinyl, tile, porcelain, and marble flooring. It is used to clean dust and debris from the floors and kills germs from the surface with steam.

When you buy a new shark steam mop, you find it quite impressive in cleaning dust and debris from the floor. But with time, when it is used carelessly, you find that it has lessened its power to blow steam or stopped blowing the steam completely.

Reasons behind the blocked Shark Steam Nozzle

One of the reasons for not blowing the steam is the blocked Nozzle. The Nozzle in the steam mop releases the steam to soften dirt and debris on the surface. When we use tap water in a steam mop, the calcium and magnesium minerals particles in the water gather around the jet on the steam head, resulting in a blocked Nozzle.

That is why the steam manufacturers recommend using distilled water in the steam mop tank because distilled water does not contain these minerals.

Cleaning the blocked Nozzle of the Shark Steam Mop

If the heating element of the Shark steam mop is working, you can use this method to clean the clogged Nozzle. You can clean the Shark steam nozzle simply with the help of some household items.

How to clean it?

Gather some distilled water, Vinegar, paper clip or Nozzle cleaner, and cotton swabs, and then follow the steps below.

  • Turn off your steam mop and let it cool down.
  • Empty the steam mop water tank
  • Use the nozzle cleaner or straighten the paper clip to clean the jet by moving it back and forth in the Nozzle. It will remove all the mineral particles from the Nozzle.
  • When the nozzle cleaner is moving freely in the Nozzle, dip the cotton swab into the Vinegar and clean the Nozzle with it. After 3-5 minutes, take a dry cotton swab and clean the Nozzle.

CLR method

If you are still facing the same issue, you can move towards the CLR method, which is much more effective than other methods. If your Nozzle gets blocked because of rust or other minerals, the commercial CLR liquid helps remove these mineral particles, cleaning the blocked nozzles.

  • Add an equal amount of CLR liquid and warm water to the steam mop tank.
  • Shake it well to make a perfect solution and leave it for 6-8 hours.
  • Turn on the steam mop to its highest settings.
  • It will burst out all the rust, debris, or calcium minerals from the Nozzle of the steam mop.
  • After that, empty the tank from the solution and clean the steam head with Vinegar.

Prevent steam mop nozzle blockage

  • Tap water is not recommended to use in the steam mop. So, use distilled water in the water tank to avoid such problems.
  • Try to clean the steam mop once a week.
  • Vacuuming is good before mopping the floor with the steam mop because it will remove all the dirt, dust, or other particles from the surface, which can cause nozzle blockage.
